How do you think Brand SERP will be impacted by the new Google search announced at Google IO?

Question (from Mark A Preston):

How do you think Brand SERP will be impacted by the new Google search announced at Google IO?

Answer:

Brand SERPs are generally navigational. For example, according to SimilarWeb, 90% of people who google Facebook navigate to the facebook.com site. Nathan Chalmers, Program Manager at Bing for the Whole Page Algorithm confirmed this during his interview with Jason Barnard.

From the little we see in the video, I would guess that it will work in a similar manner to Bing Chat. As a rule of thumb, it will not show the chat /summary option for navigational queries and will show for informational and some queries.

So “Kalicube” will trigger normal results with a chat option that requires the user to activate it (as shown in the first image below), and “what is Kalicube” will provide the summary with additional questions, with the homepage just below or alongside (as shown in the second image below).

“What is Kalicube” will provide the summary with additional questions, with the homepage just below (on Google) and alongside (on Bing).
