How It All Began and How It’s Going
1980s
Jason was awarded a Degree in Economics and Statistics from John Moores University in Liverpool, the United Kingdom.
1990s
Jason began his career singing in a band called The Barking Dogs, and developed the passion and drive to make the group successful. He started organizing gigs and overseeing their music career.
Playing music in a band was groovy, but Jason wasn’t making a living. He formed a touring company and record label. The band produced four record albums and played 600 concerts.
In 1998, Jason pursued another dream: to become a blue dog in a cartoon series. To realize this unconventional desire, he founded a company specializing in web development of children’s games and recorded music albums for children as Boowa the blue dog in the Boowa and Kwala TV Series.
Their company flourished and became one of the top 10,000 websites in the world, competing with industry giants like Disney and PBS. Their site saw significant traffic through Google and achieved top rankings for key terms related to children’s content. In 2007, the website had more than one billion page views, a remarkable achievement for a children’s website in 2007
In 2011, Jason handed control of the company to his business partner to pursue a new career in digital marketing.
“I had to set up a new career. And when I started to pitch for work as a digital marketer, I realized that when people searched my name, Jason Barnard. It said Jason Barnard is a cartoon blue dog. And the clients I was trying to sign said, “Well, that’s not serious, I’m not going to give my digital marketing strategy of millions of dollars to a cartoon blue dog.”
Jason took on the challenge of changing Google’s perception of him and taught himself how to educate Google.
He learned that teaching Google to change its understanding requires clarity, conciseness, and consistent communication. It reminded him of how to educate a child.
In Google’s, however, it’s the most intelligent child you’ve ever met, the child with a perfect memory and the most remarkable capacity to remember everything you tell it.
So, if you see something wrong when you’re looking up your name, it’s a matter of figuring out why the child got it wrong. And then fixing the issues causing that conflict in the child’s brain.
Over 2012-2013, Jason managed to re-educate Google so that it presented him as an authoritative, credible digital marketer. And from that experience, Kalicube was born!
Jason’s successful re-positioning in Google and the broader digital ecosystem brought clients seeking help managing their brand narrative online.
Jason quickly realized that manual audits of digital ecosystems are tedious, and finding the best strategies required a huge investment of time in analyzing the data. Reporting to clients on progress took a lot of work.
In 2015, Jason founded Kalicube and built Kalicube Pro, a SaaS platform designed to streamline the process of analyzing brand data in the digital landscape. The platform’s algorithms efficiently analyze data provided by Google and prioritize insights for better decision-making. It also offers simple, transparent reporting for clients.

2015
Now an established global SEO expert, Jason receives calls from business leaders who are embarrassed that their brands appear as small, local businesses rather than global entities.
They have a local Google Business Profile but don’t have a rich and impressive Knowledge Panel that gives them credibility and status as leaders in their sector. The search results for their brand name are disorganized, inconsistent, and don’t dominate the page.
Many of these companies work with SEO and ORM agencies. They overlook a crucial aspect of online visibility. These agencies rarely focus on getting their clients inside Google Knowledge Graph (Google’s library of information). And neglect to optimize the search results so the brand dominates pages one and two impressively and compellingly.

2021
Katrina Bonete was the first team member to lay the foundation for our team. She managed to keep the group together and motivate everyone to keep going. We can feel the momentum building as we work together to achieve our goals.
Jason’s primary mission has always been to build a powerful machine to analyze data. He does use his economics and statistics degree. Much like Sherlock Holmes at Google, Kalicube Pro is able to understand Google’s nuances and correct misrepresentations. This allows us to better help our clients and the agencies serve their customers – an incredibly fulfilling task for him.

But like all great stories, our groovy Kalicube story has its ups and downs and lessons learned in the beginning:
After six months of working with the first members, the human resource limitations in Kalicube were holding the company back.
A Lesson in Delegation
In 2021, during a podcast interview called Kalicube Tuesdays with Mads Singers and Jason Barnard: How to Delegate Effectively, Jason received valuable insights from Mads Singers: he pointed out to Jason that he assigns tasks rather than roles and responsibilities. Delegating tasks and trusting in the development of improved processes became critical.
Trust is the key to effective delegation. If you can’t trust your team, you should rethink how you work with them. Delegating authority, not just responsibility, demonstrates trust and appreciation
Jason needed to give our team more authority to make this valuable lesson work, leading to Kalicube Babies’ creation.
He introduced the concept of Kalicube Babies, where a project is 100 percent in the hands of one person, and that one person is there to nurture the baby and help it grow.
We fostered a friendly and supportive atmosphere within the team. Weekly meetings promoted transparency and mutual understanding rather than pressure to prove oneself.
Leading by example also played a critical role in building trust, admitting mistakes, and being willing to learn from others.
The collective impact of our team is what makes Kalicube so successful. It’s not just about Jason but the entire team working together. The journey from a solo entrepreneur to a thriving team has been remarkable.
