How Can You Control Your Knowledge Panel Against Google’s Algorithms? – Kalicube Knowledge Nuggets
In this video, Jason Barnard explains how Knowledge Panels work and why many people may not realize they have one. He shares insights into the limitations of control, highlighting that Google’s algorithms, not people, determine what information is shown. Discover strategies for managing your panel through clear, consistent data sources, with free guides to help you get started! Watch the video until the end.

Jason Barnard: Well, there’s a whole heap of stuff going on in what you just said, and much more than most people realize. Number one, as you said, a lot of people don’t realize they have a knowledge panel. Number two, people don’t realize you can have any kind of control over it. Number three is people expect Google engineers or employees of Google to change things when they’re not right. Truth is, the Google engineers
have no control either. The AI algorithms have control. And one of our clients came to us and said, well, my book has been mixed up with somebody else. We’ve both got the same name and Google’s mixed up the books. I contacted Google, a Google engineer changed it for me. So they can change some things. Two weeks later, the algorithm switched it back. The algorithms were saying the human being who’s corrected this is wrong and they just switch it back. So the algorithms have control, not Google and not you.
The good news is that John Mueller from Google, who’s the spokesperson, said outside of Google, Jason Barnard knows more about knowledge panels and how to control them than anybody else. And we have free guides that allow you to do this. And it’s not about asking Google engineers through the form on the knowledge panel. That isn’t the way to change things. They can change some things, they can’t change other, others. But if they change it and the algorithm disagrees, the algorithm will switch it back.
So what you need to do is change the source of information that’s convinced the machine that this incorrect information is correct. Why is it getting it wrong? And it’s a machine and it’s a very stupid machine. It learns by consistency, clarity and repetition. That’s it.
