Search Engine Algorithm

To determine relevance, search engines use algorithms, a process or formula by which stored information is retrieved and ordered in meaningful ways.

The ultimate aim of a search engines is to provide the ‘best’ solution to the problem expressed by a searcher (otherwise expressed, the ‘best’ answer to the question).

Evaluating the relevance of the answer in relation to the question is therefore the principal aim of a Search Engine Algorithm.

The fundamental aim of these algorithms is to ensure that the best / most appropriate content is presented to the user in the most obvious and helpful manner (usually first in the list of suggestions it returns).
