The Hierarchical dimension of Jason Barnard's Proof Dimensions framework. Hierarchical proof establishes WHERE you sit in the authority structure. It has three sub-components: Recognition (are you acknowledged as notable), Parentage (do others cite you as the source), and Connectivity (are you connected to peer authorities). Hierarchical proof answers "Who is the parent?" and "Who validates whom?"

Hierarchical proof is about authority structure. Recognition means the field acknowledges you exist as notable. Parentage means others cite YOU as where knowledge comes from. Connectivity means you're connected to other recognized authorities. Hierarchy creates proof of position.

Algorithms map authority hierarchies. Who cites whom? Who is recognized by whom? Who connects to whom? This network structure determines who is considered THE authority vs. a participant. Hierarchical proof is why endorsements matter, why getting cited (not just mentioned) matters, and why your network matters. Position in hierarchy = position in recommendations.
