How to Own the First Page of Google for Your Name When Your Namesake Ranks Number One

When someone googles your name, every result on that first page should be about you.

Someone is typing your name into Google right now. What they see in the next four seconds is a page you didn’t write, and if another person carries your name, that person is on it too. Scott Duffy looked at his in 2021 and it wasn’t his at all.

Scott Duffy googled his own name in 2021 and found a Microsoft trainer in Toronto

There are two men called Scott Duffy. Ours is an entrepreneur, an author and the founder of AI Mavericks. The other teaches Microsoft Azure on Udemy out of Toronto, and he owned the first page.

The first page for ‘Scott Duffy’ – every result and the Knowledge Panel itself belonged to the Azure trainer.

He came to Kalicube for the first page and the Knowledge Panel. Then he went quiet, for years.

Scott’s first page moved because the record moved, not because he rewrote his bio

We put the same facts, in the same words, everywhere Google already trusted, and kept them there. Google reconciled the two men and re-engineered the page.

2022: the organic results still belonged to the trainer, but Google had started splitting the two men into separate entries under ‘See Results About.'

September 2022: scottduffy.com now leads the page, and the trainer has been reduced to a single entry.

Today the first page for Scott Duffy is Scott’s sites, Scott’s story, Scott’s books and Scott’s companies, and the Azure trainer sits underneath in “See Results About.” He still has his students, still has Azure, still has Toronto: he just doesn’t have the page.

The result absolutely changed the way my brand was perceived in the marketplace. When someone searches my name, I come up at the top with an impressive Knowledge Panel.

Scott Duffy, Founder and CEO of AI Mavericks

The original case study, published in November 2024, documented this same shift on the record, three years into the work. What’s changed since is simply more of the same.

An AI that half knows you goes looking, and your first page is what it finds

When ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Perplexity hesitates over who you are, it goes to the search results for your name and takes what is there.

What you’re buying is the first page

You’re buying the four seconds between someone searching your name and deciding what they think about you.

Scott’s first page changed because the record changed. The Azure trainer did not disappear. Google simply came to understand which information belonged to which Scott Duffy.

The full account of how Google untangled two men with one name is in the original case study: How to Get a Knowledge Panel When Thousands of People Have The Same Name.

Part 2 of 3: This is one third of the story

Owning the first page is one part of three. Scott also had to win the model that answers before anyone searches, and the Knowledge Panel that fact-checks him after.

Part 1 ← Read Intelligence
How ChatGPT and Gemini learned to answer with Scott, not his namesake.

Part 3 → Read Validation
How the same work earned Scott a Knowledge Panel that’s held for years.

The Algorithmic Trinity: Intelligence, Information, Validation

Google doesn’t run one system, it runs three, and Jason Barnard named them the Algorithmic Trinity in 2024. Google uses the same three words itself.

Picture a classroom. Intelligence is the child with their hand up who already knows the answer and never thinks to walk to the library: that is the large language model, on Google it is Gemini, and it is what this page is about. Information is the same child on a day when they’re not sure, heading for the shelves to look it up: that is the search engine, and on Google it is the first page of results for your name, the Brand SERP. Validation is the encyclopedia they reach for when it really matters, the double-check that settles it: that is the Knowledge Graph, and on Google it is your Knowledge Panel. The encyclopedia is also why the child could answer off the top of their head in the first place.

Kalicube covers all three, and all three is the only configuration that’s safe. Whether you want to be the dominant person with your name, whether you want the narrative under control, or whether you want a bad narrative gone, one is not enough and two is not enough. Gemini already knows you, the first page is yours when anyone looks, and the Knowledge Panel confirms what the machine already thought.

And Google does not pick one winner for the name, it picks three, once in each system, so being the dominant interpretation in the search results while a competitor is dominant in the model means you own a third of your own name.

The method is The Kalicube Process™: clarity, consistency, corroboration over time.

What does Google show when someone searches your name?

Scott’s first page once belonged to someone else. Today, it tells his story.
